The Deeper Roots Band evolved from being the Praise Team at Old Bethel United Methodist Church, originally formed to accompany the modern worship music on Sunday mornings.  The group was started by keyboardist Michael Douce in 2003, and the only member remaining from the original Praise Team is bassist Jon E Gee.  Shortly after, saxophonist Aaron Pitt joined the band, and both of them are still actively committed to this day.

Over the years, a handful of vocalists and instrumentalists have come and gone, helping to get the band to where they are today.  Nick Sommers, guitar, and Joshua Lingenfelter, drums, joined the group in 2006 when their respective instruments became vacant.  Stan Clark added his vocal leadership to the group in 2006 as well, and vocalist Sherry Sutton brought her talents to the band in 2007.

Heather Symons became the Audio Tech at Old Bethel in 2004, running sound and video for both Sunday morning worship services.  She was excited about the opportunity to move with the band to the Movie Theater Church in 2008.

God has brought each of these band members together for a purpose.  Together, they find themselves deeply rooted in Christ, and wanting to make others the strong branches through the sharing of their musical worship.  Their goal is to reach people where they are in the world, bringing people to Christ one person at a time.
